Position at the T-House: Social Worker, Coach and Vice President Trans United
Languages: Dutch, English, Surinamese
After having worked at COC Netherlands, BeyonG started working for the transgender community as vice president of Trans United, an organization mainly for the bi-cultural transgender community of color. In addition, she started working as a social worker for Safe Haven, the LGBTI+ team of Buurtteam Amsterdam Centrum, through the Municipality of Amsterdam. Transgender people from Amsterdam and the surrounding area can contact her for specialized social work. Her own experience as an openly, ‘known’, Dutch transgender person and gained knowledge come in handy here.
Present in the T-House on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month, from 12:00 to 16:00 by appointment only from Veilige Haven (Safe Haven) and Trans United Europe.
People can come during the consultation hours for social contact; for support with problems in the field of their relationship; housing and health issues. For medical questions, I refer to specialists who are known within our network. On account of my background I know what it is like to deal with problems that people experience because of cultural or religious views. Self-acceptance and self-healing are therefore important themes.
